St. Rita’s Health Partners Volunteer/Auxiliary Resources president, Jan Kennedy, will present a check for $227,000 to Bob Baxter, regional CEO and senior vice president Mercy Health – Lima Region, at the UNOH Event Center, located at 1450 North Cable Road, Lima, Ohio 45805. The presentation will take place during St. Rita’s Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on Tuesday, May 23, at 1 p.m. This donation is made on behalf of all St. Rita’s volunteers which includes 463 adults, 57 college students, 161 summer teen volunteers, 88 shadowing students and 207 supporting members. There will be 350 volunteers in attendance at Tuesday’s event.

“Throughout the year our volunteers hold events and fundraisers in order to raise funds that go toward our current foundation efforts. As volunteers, we see what this medical center does for our community and experience firsthand how these advancements in technology help provide quality care for our patients,” said Jan Kennedy, president of St. Rita’s Volunteer/Auxiliary Resources.

This contribution will be the third installment on the Volunteer/Auxiliary’s pledge of $900,000 to St. Rita’s Health Care Foundation’s current projects—3D Mammography and Hybrid Operating Room. Since 1953, St. Rita’s Volunteer/Auxiliary Resources has raised nearly $8.5 million for the medical center.

During the luncheon, volunteers will also be recognized and 10 new names will be added to the 2,000 Hour Honor Roll. Volunteers include Annette Cypher, Sue Evans, Ginny Jackson, John Miller, Laura Roach, Mike Schoenberger, Cliff Seputis, Mary Ann Spurk, Rita Truesdale and Carol Walker. One of these volunteers, Rita Truesdale, will be awarded the “Catherine McAuley Lifetime Achievement Award in Volunteerism” for contributing more than 6 years of experience and 2,710 hours of service to the medical center.

The medical center will introduce the 2017-18 St. Rita’s Volunteer/Auxiliary Resources executive team, Joyce Gerdeman, President; Mary Kales, President Elect, Ways and Means; Marge Snow Secretary and Historian; Ruth Novicki, Vice President for Caring; and Sheryl Dages, Vice President for Outreach.

“At St. Rita’s we appreciate everything our volunteers contribute to our patients, mission and community. The appreciation luncheon is only a small way to say thank you for their continuous hard work and dedication,” said Mark Miller, director of St. Rita’s Volunteer/Auxiliary Resources.
