Advancing Graduate Medical Education in the Greater Lima Region
At Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, patients come first in all we do. Every single member of our team knows that compassion for each individual patient—and his or her family—is at the heart of our faith-based mission. Serving patients was our focus 100 years ago when St. Rita’s was first established, and it remains our focus as we look to the future.
As we focus on the future, we remain committed to serving the specific health needs unique to our community. It is imperative that together, we invest in solutions to meet the growing healthcare needs of our population, while addressing our region’s imminent shortage of medical professionals. We offer a creative solution that, we believe, will address the health needs of the families we serve, and create new, attractive opportunities for the best and brightest to settle here, and make a truly positive impact on our community.
Together with you—our patients, physicians, employees, and many friends—we have an unprecedented opportunity to transform healthcare and enrich our community through the establishment of a new Graduate Medical Education Program (GMEP). To accomplish this lofty goal, we have launched Focused on the Future—our Campaign to provide advanced medical education and training for bright, young healthcare professionals, right here in the Greater Lima Region. This investment will result in crucial resources to address our region’s growing need for practicing physicians, nurses and therapists, while enriching our community with young professionals and families who make Greater Lima their home.
St. Rita’s will soon begin construction on a 42,500-square-foot education center designed to promote collaboration and team-based approaches to medical training. This GME Center will house state-of-the-art simulation labs and training spaces, a 250-seat lecture hall, classrooms, team-based project work space, flexible library and study spaces as well as Graduate Medical Education leadership and team office space.
