When Jodi had a mastectomy, her insurance covered the cost of two mastectomy bras. When she found out the two bras would have cost $800 out-of-pocket, she was concerned for those women who dont have insurance and cant afford the special undergarments.People dont understand how expensive they are, and you cant just pick themup at any store, she said.Jodi coordinated the donation of nearly 400 mastectomy bras valued at about $20,000 to the Mercy HealthJoanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center. They were distributed to breast cancer survivors in the region early this year. Youve already been through enough at that point, Jodi said. It is so important to your self-esteem, and you shouldnt have to worry about being able to afford a bra to feel better about yourself.'
